Deputy Governor for Payments at the Saudi Central Bank

Mr. Abdulaziz Abanmi serves as the Deputy Governor for Payments at the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA). Prior to his current position, Abanmi held several senior positions in the financial sector, particularly the banking sector and the payments sector. Through these leadership roles, Abanmi had the opportunities to overseen IT Development and Governance, Change Management, Quality Assurance Procedures, as well as leading the launch of various payment services in the financial sector.

Mr. Abanmi is a seasoned leader with over than 21 years of experience in technology, payments, and financial services. His journey at SAMA highlights his expertise in managing large-scale operations and driving tech innovations within the financial sector including his role in leading the launch of Instant Payment Service in Saudi Arabia back in 2020/2021. His diverse experiences are reflected in his ability to drive technological innovation and operational excellence in the banking and payments sectors.

Mr. Abdulaziz Abanmi holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from King Saud University, a master’s degree in Software Engineering from Prince Sultan University, and has completed an executive program in digital leadership at INSEAD Business School.
